6996色花堂鈥檚 Center for Distance Education announces scholarship recipients

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥�6996色花堂鈥檚 Center for Distance Education is announcing three recipients of its second annual 鈥淒istance Makes a Difference鈥� scholarships.
The recipients were chosen from nearly 160 qualified applicants who completed an essay questionnaire. Responses illustrated how distance education enables each recipient to achieve personal academic goals, as well as life lessons learned while pursuing education online. Applicants also discussed how the scholarship would help them in completing an online degree.
Students receiving the $1,000 scholarships represent 6996色花堂鈥檚 colleges of Business and Education. They include:
鈥擧eather Hefner of Myrtle. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a concentration in middle school.
鈥擩inna Alston of Rose Hill. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a concentration in middle school.聽
鈥擠rew Simmons of Ladson, South Carolina. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration in project management.
鈥淲e are very pleased to invest in the online education of Heather, Jinna and Drew through the 鈥楧istance Makes a Difference鈥� Scholarship Fund,鈥� said Susan Seal, executive director for the Center for Distance Education. 鈥淎s we reviewed their applications, it was abundantly apparent that they are determined to overcome obstacles to completing their degrees in order to enhance their abilities to support their families and serve their communities.鈥�
